Staying at this apartment in El Gouna can only be described as a descent into disillusionment upon arrival. The place is a shocking portrayal of neglect that doesn’t align with the enticing photos presented online. Rather than a vacation retreat, this rundown space is more akin to a catalogue of horrors that has not seen an investment since the 1980s. As soon as I stepped inside, the overwhelming lack of cleanliness was apparent; the floors had not seen a vacuum in what felt like eons, with sunflower seeds scattered about, remnants of past occupants. Hidden behind cabinets were remnants of a woman's sock and an old mask, further emphasizing the appalling disregard for hygiene.

The apartment's dysfunctionality added another layer to the nightmare; the bathroom faucet was broken, dispelling a murky brown liquid, while the shower was unusable due to a blockage of hair. To top it all off, the washing machine was filled with stagnant, dirty water, suggesting it had not been operational for quite some time. Basic amenities seemed non-existent, with no toilet paper, shower gel, or any semblance of a welcome package upon our arrival. It was disheartening to find only two towels to share amidst the dilapidated furnishings and stains that permeated the space, making it clear that this apartment hasn't been cleaned or valued in many years.

On a more positive note, the location of the apartment is its lone redeeming feature. Situated in the vibrant center of El Gouna, it offers convenient access to local attractions and nightlife. However, this proximity comes with its own set of drawbacks, as the nearby bars often come alive with noise and revelry that can last well into the early hours of the morning. For someone like me, who typically sleeps late, the noise was more of a minor inconvenience than a deterrent. Nevertheless, for families or those seeking a serene getaway, the overpowering sounds of late-night festivities could translate into a restless stay, overshadowing any fleeting advantages found in the location itself. Overall, unless this apartment undergoes significant refurbishment and a thorough cleaning, it remains a place best avoided.
