My recent experience at what I believed would be a relaxing hotel stay turned into a nightmare that I wouldn't wish on anyone. While the allure of a beachfront property promised picturesque sunsets, what I encountered was a filthy beach that was poorly maintained. The trash littered along the shoreline and sharp rocks made swimming there impossible, reducing any hope for a pleasant experience to merely sitting on uncomfortable chairs. The situation escalated when, after enjoying a beautiful sunset, I discovered that someone had taken one of my flip-flops and intentionally damaged it beyond use. This careless act, coupled with the lackadaisical attitude of hotel staff, made it evident that hospitality was not a priority for this establishment.

Reporting the incident to reception only deepened my frustration. The staff dismissed my complaint with absurd excuses, claiming it was the work of a "dog," despite no bite marks on the shoe. My request to review the security footage was met with delay and deception when they revealed cut segments of the video. Astonishingly, one portion of the video captured a hotel guest, a young local boy, holding my severed flip-flop, proving their nonsensical claims unbelievable. Instead of receiving any explanation or compensation, I was met with further denial and excuses. I was left feeling vulnerable, as I had to carry my valuables everywhere out of fear that I would suffer another loss, all of which underscored a systemic issue regarding how foreign guests were treated compared to locals.

This hotel experience was not just disappointing; it was indicative of a broader disregard for guest welfare. Throughout my stay, I felt conspicuous and unwelcome as a foreigner, encountering numerous attempts to overcharge me, even at the restaurant. For instance, what should have been a straightforward meal became an ordeal when I noticed they tried to inflate my bill after conversion from Euros to Egyptian Pounds. It was exhausting to constantly remain vigilantly aware and question unjust prices during what was supposed to be a restful vacation. If the management prefers to cater only to Arab guests, perhaps it would serve them better to do so explicitly, sparing others from enduring the humiliation that defined my stay.
